Boxercise
This course is a high impact cardio workout inspired by the sport of boxing. You will get your heart rate up by punching and learning fast footwork in a safe and supportive environment. Each class begins with a warm-up, shadow boxing workout, partner boxing, circuit and weight training intervals, abdominal exercises, stretches and warm-down. Be prepared to sweat in the fast paced high energy class. No matter what level your physical fitness is, you will get a challenging and fun workout. Two levels are available- Beginning and Intermediate.
Students will practice the following punches and footwork:
JAB, CROSS PUNCH, HOOK, UPPERCUT, BOB AND WEAVE, POWER PUNCH, SPEED PUNCH, COMBINATIONS
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Identify and perform boxercise routines and terminology
- Integrate and demonstrate boxercise skills, technique and safety guidelines both individually and in partner work
- Identify and demonstrate and apply the principles of boxercise and its relationship to everyday movement and health
- Identify and demonstrate the components of proper body alignment and back health with emphasis on increasing core strength and flexibility
- Incorporate an intermediate level of cardiovascular intensity related to boxercise
