  • Dance Conditioning

    Dance Conditioning is a class focusing on a variety of conditioning techniques and movement practices that relate to the dance idiom.  Students will practice Pilates fundamentals and Barre exercises to work the primary muscle groups used in dance. Stabilization exercises will be emphasized as well as the integration of floor barre and standing barre exercises.  The class will also focus on core strength, muscle strength and balance exercises. No dance training is necessary. All levels welcome.

     

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    • Define physiological efficient body alignment and its importance in dance technique
    • Demonstrate correct body placement and alignment in the performance of exercises
    • Identify anatomical landmarks, postural muscles, and basic kinesiology principles as they relate to the dance conditioning techniques and exercises presented
    • Examine breathing techniques to facilitate the execution of dance conditioning and body awareness exercises
    • Demonstrate core strength, flexibility, and movement efficiency by applying dance conditioning techniques and exercises presented

      Offered at City College of San Francisco and PIVOT Dance and Fitness.

      DANC 34A Dance Conditioning I Mon/Wed 5-6 p.m. Studio 301 at CCSF 

      Mondays & Wednesdays 10-11 a.m. at PIVOT Dance and Fitness
