Dance Theater
Introduction to Dance Theater is a course designed for students interested in Musical Theater technique and choreography. Students will experience how dance can non-verbally support the story-telling of plays and musicals.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Demonstrate the technical fundamentals of Dance Theater.
Adapt theatrical storylines, lyrics and themes of a musical production to movement.
Demonstrate strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination and agility to perform Dance Theater-style choreography.
Perform barre exercises and center exercises with the appropriate musicality.
Discuss the history of Musical Theater and important choreographers that contributed to this art form.
